MIKE AND CARRIE
 Carrie
is worried, and Dr Mike comes to console her. If only she had Ausdumb!
she wails, as Dr Mike ignores his sinking heart and perks her up with the news
that soon, Ausdumb will get his annulment and this will all seem like a dim
dark memory.
MARLENA AND
JOHN
 Marlena
asks John if he heard what she just said to Roman. He nods, and she
sighs. I'm so sorry if that hurt you, she smiles. But part of me will
always love Roman. That however doesn't have anything to do with how I feel
for you, and how I want us to be together forever.
KRISTEN REPORTS
IN
 Kristen
is thrilled. Did you see that John was listening when Marlena told Roman
she loved him? she squeals. This is going better than I could have
hoped! Keep your head about you, warns Stefano. This is going to take a
while to play out. You'll need to keep on your toes. But yes indeed, it
is a very good start.
INTERRUPTION
 Ausdumb
looks jealously between Carrie and Dr Mike as they talk. Could I have a word
with Carrie please? he asks, as Mike sidles away. Ausdumb barely utters
a word, when Carrie is called. Roman is ready to see her.
 Hey
punkin' Roman smiles.
MIKE'S NEWS
 Dr
Mike has some news from the hospital. Seems more tests are needed.
Roman is indeed one very sick man suffering from an unknown and terminal
bacterial infection. Being a synthetic germ there's no known cure for
it, so it's a matter of trying new things, while they continue to do more
tests. As things stand, Roman indeed is going to die.
John and Marlena
decide to go to the hospital to meet with the world's top specialists in
synthetic germs, while Dr Mike stays near to comfort Carrie.
SAMI & HER
PLAN
 Scami
has a plan, and it begins as she takes Will to see Roman. This is your
grandfather Will, she smiles, and this dad is my son Will. I'm
wonderfully, deliriously happy now, married to Ausdumb Reed, and we're just
the happiest family on the face of the earth.
 Ausdumb
Reed? asks Roman suddenly with brain in gear. Wasn't that Carrie's
boyfriend? Yes agrees Scami, but it didn't work out and Ausdumb married me and
we've had a son together.
Scami's face turns
sour, as Roman pauses. I'm worried for Carrie, he coughs. She was
so in love with Ausdumb.
Well, enthuses
Scami, she's a lot happier now dad. She's in love with Dr Mike Horton.
They're wonderfully happy - don't worry for her dad. Mmm, Roman ponders.
Still it must have been hard on her, I'm worried for her.
LISTENING
 Kristen
and Stefano are watching Scami's plan in action on the monitor. Ah Scami,
chortles Stefano wiping his eyes. What an actress you are! And
what an inspired plan! To tell her dying father that Carrie and Mike Horton
are in love! That Carrie is like all of those self-serving
Brady's. She won't deny it because she'll try and prevent the hurt and
turmoil it will cause her father! Excellent!
Pointing at
Kristen, Stefano eyes her distastefully. If you had been half as good an
actress as Scami, he tells her, you would have John now and I would have been
on my island with the lovely Marlena!
Well I think it's
terrible! Kristen says. I'm going to tell John right now what Scami is
up to. How dare she manipulate Ausdumb, Carrie and her father this way!
Are you forgetting
all you did to keep John, asks Stefano amazed. Well there was a difference!
justifies Kristen. After all, John does love me, Ausdumb has never loved
Scami!
AT THE HOSPITAL
 The
files have come through from the Caribbean ISA hospital. Rifling though
the information, Marlena seems shocked to see what she's already heard three
times now. Roman is dying.
THE PAPERS
 The
doorbell rings - it's Never-win Mickey's lackey. These are your
annulment papers, he smiles as Ausdumb does the dance of joy.
 As
Lucas watches perturbed, Ausdumb jumps up and down. These are my
annulment papers little brother! he yelps. Now Carrie and I can finally
be together. I must find her - where is she?
COMFORT
 She's
outside howling now she realises that Roman is dying. We must keep this
from Scami she tells Dr Mike. Who knows what the trauma will do to
her. As she weeps on Dr Mike's shoulder, Ausdumb trots outside, only to
stop and stare. Not another moment where Carrie is in Mike's arms?
