Rest &
Relaxation
 It's
always important when a person's suffering from a terminal synthetic germ that
they get as much rest and relaxation as possible. And, of course
Salemites know that only too well, with most of them being sick enough to die
at various stages in their lifecycles. Roman Brady of course is no
exception. Now residing in one of the DiMansion's numerous bedrooms,
he's happily acquiesced to Dr Mike's strict enforcement of a new improved
visiting schedule - just two people per minute permitted. It's important
that Roman not be overwhelmed.
As Roman's mother
Carolyn leafs through a family photo album, Roman coughs up a lung as he
tearfully recounts the stubborn behaviour that led to his marriage break-up
with the much in male demand Marlena.
I should have
understood when she had the affair with John and had his baby while still
married to me, he wails stopping to hack. I was selfish and insecure.
Sshh, soothes
Carolyn frowning. You're back here now and that's the main thing.
You're right,
hiccups the poor deluded Roman. If it wasn't for Kristen I'd still be in
that ISA hospital. Isn't she an angel? I'm so pleased her and John have
such a happy marriage. I'm equally as happy that my little peanut is so
happily married to Ausdumb, and that Punkin and Dr Mike are so in love.
As Roman nods off
momentarily with a smile on his dial, Carolyn bites her lip. Roman's got a lot to learn should he
live that long.
AUSTIN
 Ausdumb
can't fathom it. The time has finally come where he has received his annulment
papers to end his marriage to Scami, and there he stood and listened by the
door, while Carrie told her father
Roman that she was "lucky to have a great man like Dr Mike."
As Ausdumb's grey
matter churns and rotates, his eyes bulge and dart around the DiMansion
gardens nervously. Is it true? Could he have really lost Carrie to Dr Mike?
GETTING
REACQUAINTED
 Long
lost son Eric has returned to Salem from his prolonged stint in Colorado and
Marlena and John, despite their initial confusion at seeing him lurking in the
bushes, are delighted. Their collective smiles fade however, as Eric
innocently asks about their honeymoon plans. Marlena sighs.
I've got news
Eric, and you'll be shocked and a little surprised. Your formerly
considered-dead father Roman is in fact still alive. Even though the ISA
swore he was dead, he was just sick instead and we wept over his coffin for
nought. Nevertheless, his reappearance in the middle of our wedding
ceremony was a tad surprising and it's been called off temporarily while we
get your dad settled.
Dad? Alive? Eric
repeats having ludicrously never considered the notion, despite his mother
"dying" at least three times, not to mention a period of classic
demonic possession.
JACK AND
JENNIFER
 Jack
and Jennifer are discussing Roman's reappearance, and speculate how helpful it
would be for Peter to be just as obliging by returning from the dead as
well. No such luck unfortunately as Stefano still has a perpetual axe to
grind against the man who shot his son in the midst of an attempted
kidnapping, and who has sent Trent, formerly Jack's prison buddy Travis, to
keep an eye on things while remaining at a distance.
Trent/Travis,
lacking significant training in the art of covert spying, frequently lurks
around the nearest corner muttering loudly to himself, yet despite his clumsy
efforts, and lack of a decent trench coat, no-one seems to notice. Jack
on the other hand, is starting to get a
little suspicious about his buddy Travis. Never-win Mickey has noted
that no paper trail of Travis even exists and Jack suspects this to be the work
of Stefano DiMera, a secret he's going to keep from Jennifer - at least for the
moment.
LITTLE WHITE
LIES
 Sitting
pretty with Dr Mike, Carrie has a confession to make. Do you think it's
bad to lie to a man with a terminal case of germs? she asks, as Mike
considers. Well, it can't hurt him anymore than 2 visitors a minute can
surely, and then there's the fact that if it keeps him calm and happy, that
will bode well for any forthcoming potentially miraculous cure.
Carrie nods,
blurting out the truth to Mike. Scami told Roman that you and I are a
couple. He seemed so pleased I couldn't deny it. Face brightening, Mike
smiles briefly, then covers his delight.
I am now
absolutely convinced that this is one of Scami's tricks, determines
Carrie. I just wish Eric was here. As the person closest to Scami,
he'd be able to see through her tricks. I hope when he finds out Roman
is back he'll return to Salem.
KEEPING
ERIC FROM SALEM
 Lucas
and Scami have deduced that her plan to keep Ausdumb will go beautifully. No one will
suspect what she is doing - except perhaps for her twin Eric who can see right
through her. Eric must not return to Salem - at least until her plans are
complete.
Time to take
steps.
Placing a call to
Colorado,
she reaches Eric's answering service. I'm sure you've heard about Dad, she
smiles, but everything's fine here, no need to rush back, I'll call you and
give you updates. Bye!
THE TRIP HOME
Eric can't understand it as the story unfolds. So daddy is sick and yet
he's staying with Kristen? The same person who kept you in a secret room for
months and who should be in jail? So why is dad staying at the DiMansion?
he frowns. You've got loads of money John, why didn't you just buy
another house if you didn't have room at Marlena's condo?
Sharing guilty
glances with Marlena, John blurts the minimum information. It takes time to buy and
set up a house, he says cryptically as Eric continues to look confused.
THE TRUTH
 Continuing
to carp all the way home, Eric has worn Marlena and John thin, and they're now ready
to answer his questions. The fact is Eric, Roman is very sick.
Very very sick. Terminal Salem sick.
Eric looks shocked! Not Salem
sick where the only way you get well again is to go away and come back as a
new actor or find a miraculous cure at the last moment?
Sadly, Marlena and
John nod. He hasn't got very long. Let's get inside and you can
see him they say encouragingly, as Eric swallows and turns his back to the
front door surveying the moon.
SAMI &
AUSTIN
 Clued
up as to how Ausdumb's feeling after hearing Carrie talk to her dad about
Mike, and seeing the telltale annulment papers in
Ausdumb's hand that he's carried around for hours, Scami knows she has to act. It's so wonderful to
have my dad back, she enthuses, as Ausdumb raises a weak smile.
Eyeing Ausdumb
slyly, Scami smirks. Dad seemed so pleased that we are so happy, she says
dreamily as Ausdumb squirms and turns the envelope in his hands. Scami?
he smiles bravely. There's something I have to tell you.
Sensing danger,
Scami interrupts. I know what you're going to say Ausdumb. I know that
dad didn't like you originally, but he is definitely impressed with you now
and knows that you're a wonderful husband and father and an ethical and
committed family man. He knows you'd never hurt us. Dad's so sick
Ausdumb and every little move is agony, and yet I can feel how happy he is. Sighing, Ausdumb's shoulders
slump. Seems like now is not the time to venture into the subject of
annulments.
SURPRISE!
 Carrie's
delighted to see Eric, embracing him quickly before getting down to
business. She needs his help, but she'll talk to him about her
suspicions later.
SHOCK SURPRISE
Lucas has been
introduced to Eric and has hotfooted it to warn Scami not to go through to the
living room until he can prepare her. Too late, Scami charges ahead
swinging open the door.
 Stunned,
she does a doubletake. Eric! she mutters.
 Hi
sis, Eric grins. Aren't you pleased to see me?
ANGRY
 Travis/Trent
has unwisely rushed to Stefano's hideaway to whine, moan and complain, and
Stefano's displeased as only Stefano can be.
Unimpressed with
his henchman's performance to date, he reminds Travis/Trent that he is skating
on very thin ice, when threatening the great Stefano DiMera.
 Trent/Travis
is too dumb to care. He believes Stefano isn't all he's cracked up to
be, and watches cluelessly as smoke begins to curl from Stefano's
nostrils.
Still not clued in
on the implications of the Stefano's wrath, he continues to whine and
complain, until Stefano crackles. You will do what I say, Stefano thunders, or
you will be spending the rest of your life in prison. I have the power
to make it so. Do you understand? Finally Travis gets the message as
he quietly tiptoes to the door and sees himself out.

PLANNED
SEDUCTION
John is sniffing
around the DiMansion looking for his suitcase so he can change into his
jammies, when he spies the suitcase propped up in Kristen's room. Thick as a
plank, John squints. What could his suitcase possibly be doing in
Kristen's bedroom? Picking it up, he finds it's empty. What's this? His
clothes have been packed in the drawers and wardrobes! Surely Kristen
doesn't expect that he's going to cohabitate?
 She
does. As Kristen slinks out the bathroom in a satin number, she smiles.
Hi, she coos. Can I get you something to drink? Quick as wink, John's
got it in one. Are you trying to seduce me? he asks horrified achieving
a remarkable facial contortion of curled lip and squinting eye
simultaneously.
Well, Kristen says
reasonably. It would only raise questions with Roman if we didn't sleep
in the same room! After all John, he does think we're married.
Shaking his head,
John sneers. I wouldn't sleep in the same room with you if you were the
last woman on the planet, he snarls turning to find Marlena behind him.
Come on Doc, he says presumably going through his second bout as a teenager as
he links arms with Marlena, glares at his former girlfriend and struts down
the hall with his nose raised high.
WORRIED
Scami's worried. Turning to Lucas she frowns. Now that Eric is
back, I'll have to be especially careful. He's always been able to see
through me.
VISITING ROMAN
Marlena shows Eric to Roman's room, being only the 45th visitor this half
hour. Roman stirs from his nanosecond slumber - Eric? he says
weakly. Eric is that you? Yes dad, gulps Eric embracing his
father. I'm home to stay as long as I'm needed here.
PONDERING
Jennifer's gone inside for the night, but Jack needs a few moments alone to
lie on the hammock and ponder who Travis was/is and where he's disappeared
to. Hearing bushes rustling adjoining his and the new neighbour's
property, Jack peers into the darkness to watch a man peering back.
That silhouette
sure looks familiar and Jack leans forward. Travis? he mutters to
himself. Could that be Travis? What would Travis be doing here?
CAUGHT AGAIN!
Carrie is pleased that Eric is home and she can get his take on whether
Scami's amnesia is active. I don't know where I would be without you
Mike, Carrie sighs, as Mike yet again puts his arm around her....
 .....and
Ausdumb again walks into the house and sees it.
